When you least expect it, amazing things happen. I know one
thing’s for certain, I am the most loved girl on the planet and no matter what
happens; I’m going to be alright.
Sjofn walked into her new home, it had been built so fast
she didn't even have time to see it being constructed. A smile touched her lips
as she looked around at all the new things, none of them being claimed by her
yet. She’d felt almost disconnected lately with everything going on around her
but she’d learned long ago that objects didn't bring you happiness; people
brought you happiness. People let you down, they are human but so is
forgiveness. It’s a basic human emotion that everyone should give more freely, not
just for others but for their own piece of mind.
So much had happened within a short period of time, falling
in love, getting married to two wonderful men both loving her in their own way.
Getting pregnant right away by both of them, sometimes it’s better to just nod
your head and not ask too many questions but now they were really connected.
It wasn’t always perfect but nothing ever was, it’s the not
letting go when the going gets tough that makes you are stronger person and
makes you stronger as a couple, even when your couple includes three.
Running her hands around her rounded extended belly, she
took a couple more steps further into the house. The spiral staircase catching
her eye as her cerulean eyes following where it lead, she was in awe. It felt
like home, but she’d come to realize that anywhere her new family decided to
call home was her home. Something beckoned
her to the living area, it was the cozy sofa and the chairs at first and then
the fireplace with the fire already blazing, warming her from the inside out.
They were in the holiday season already and snow covered the
ground outside but inside she felt the love, the warmth. Both sets of wedding
pictures adorned both sides of the fireplace bringing tears to her eyes.
Something she had searched for and longed for finally within her midst; a
family, someone to love, someone that loved her and wanted to keep her safe
because they cherished and adored her. She couldn’t have asked for more.
She wiped the tears off her cheeks with a delicate hand as
she saw the stockings hanging on the mantle; Three of them, one for Daddy one
for Turtle and the other for her. No one had ever taken the time to single her
out and include her, to make her feel so special.
Silence, complete silence usually disturbed her because she
was used to constantly having one song or another in her head but it left her
open to hear the slight mewr and a purr coming from the door of a room. “Kitty!!!”
She nearly jumped up and down but waddled
as quick as she could to a bedroom where the sound was coming from, first
spotting the cat laying on the big pink bed that was all for her. Daddy had
decorated the room just for her, putting pictures of them on the wall portraits
of their special times together. She couldn’t have loved him more in that
moment but in her child-like exuberance ran to the bathroom and saw a big huge
tub with bubbles and and… rubber duckies. “Yay!!”
Getting undressed, she tested the water to make sure it was
still warm and sank into the bubbles singing at the top of her lungs….”Rubber
ducky yer th one who makes baftime lots O fun…rubber ducky I’m awfully fond of
yewww booo boopeedoop”
Next on the list, decorating for the babies… life here
wouldn't always be perfect because nothing ever was, but it would be worth it
because the best things in life always were.
